Sieloff wins
Florida Shooter
of the Year

The Florida Archery Association (FAA) recently named florida-PSE/AR Pro-Staff Shooter, Debra Sieloff, Female Shooter of the Year. To win the title, Sieloff competed in nine 2004 Florida State Championships that spanned 11 months, the last of which was the State Marked 3-D Championship where she shot her new AR compound bow.

Sieloff used PSE and AR bows to compete in the FAA State NFAA Indoor, NAA Indoor, Field, FITA, FITA Field, International, Unmarked 3-D, Marked 3-D, and Target Championships to accumulate points toward Shooter of the Year. “This series has so much variety that it takes pretty versatile and solid equipment to handle the demands,” said Sieloff.

“Shooting in Florida has its challenges, the environment can be pretty hard on the equipment with the heat, humidity, rain-and this year hurricanes (Sieloff was hit by two in the middle of the tournament season).”

“We're shooting several outdoor tournaments in the peak of Florida summer and the intensity of the sun can be unbelievable at times. I've known guys that have left their bows in the car during lunch break and come back with the bows all warped,” she commented. “I've been fortunate to have had an easy year with equipment. The most there was to contend with were normal maintenance things like replacing strings after four or five thousand shots or cleaning my sight after spending a weekend in the rain.”

“I received my AR late in the season in preparation for next year's competitions. It was so easy to shoot that I began competing with it inside of a few days,” said Sieloff. In December, Sieloff won third in Women's Freestyle Open at the Idaho Indoor Open against other national-caliber indoor shooters.

The Florida Archery Association will formally present the 2004 Shooter of the Year award to Sieloff in January at the beginning of the Florida 2005 Shooter of the Year series. PSE Pro Staff Shooter Diane Watson, also of Florida, won the FAA Female Shooter of the Year in 2002 when Sieloff had just started into archery.
